Description
xJostein Gaarder is a Norwegian novelist whose fiction often introduces questions from philosophy.
Fourteen-year-old Sophie receives mysterious messages that ask questions about existence and introduce her to philosophy. Lessons from a strange teacher take her through centuries of ideas, while postcards addressed to another girl deepen the mystery of her own identity. The novel turns philosophical history into an investigation of what reality means.
